1972 Lyman 30' Islander
Hull #L-1170. Must sell this beautiful 1972 Lyman Islander which has undergone an extensive modernization and refurbishing. She has been a yard maintained salt water boat all her life on Cape Cod which explains her seaworthiness and excellent condition of her hull and underlying structure. Original Lyman Sand Tan paint is still in good condition in her bilge and engine compartments. The following are a few of the improvements that have been made to this boat: New cabin roof with solid mahogany has been used to replace the plywood and laminate roof overhang. New custom solid mahogany helm station with new SW guages, wiring, and new senders from engines, gas tanks, etc. New modern electrical wiring, battery switches, etc. All new thru hull fittings with flush mounted transducer for depth sounder and fish finder. New Raymarine digital radar, GPS, VHF radio all mounted on new Seaview mast. New stereo system with speakers inside cabin and outside. New dual airhorns and searchlight. New topsides paint with Petit Easypoxy, multiple coats after removing old finish but preserving original Lyman paper on planks. New 16 coat Awlgrip ultimate brightwork system varnish on inside and out. New Perko original replacement CP hinges and hardware inside cabin and deck bits. Two new 50 gallon fuel tanks along with fuel lines. Electric head with tank and electric fridge. New solid traditional teak deck, new white oak deck beams, and new white oak rub rails. New solid mahogany lower transom. The twin 225hp, 318ci Chrysler engines truly start with a turn of the key and she runs perfect. Boat will do 23-25 knots, but I run her at 1800rpm which is about 10-12 knots. This boat is in many ways better than new and many iron fittings and fasteners have been replaced with stainless steel or bronze. She is seaworthy, safe, and ready for many more years of fun. She has a fascinating history and actually had a full time skipper and boat boy during her early years on Cape Cod. All heads turn to look at her. Professionally appraised in 2011 at $50,000 on Cape Cod. I have spent $150,000 documented on restoration and upgrading. New deck substructure last year, all new navigation equipment, and totally new cooling system. Truly a turn key boat! Please call or email for more details and photos.
