I have a small machine shop where I make parts and repairs for restorations. A friend put a guy in touch with me who was restoring a 28' Lyman. Four of the eight cast aluminum windshield brackets were shot. I made eight new ones from stainless steel. They looked great. Anyone need some?

We recently had a customer buy some of our cold bendable compressed white oak for rib restoration work on several Lyman boats. I could see excellent application for knee replacements as well. Please feel free to visit our website at www.extremewoodbending.com, and I'd look forward to your follow-up if this capability appeals to you.

I am a longtime Vintage Paper Dealer who is phasing out after 30 years of selling to museums, libraries, companies, websites and private collectors on almost any subject you can think of. Many have their own archives where they preserve this wonderful material and also frame for display and/or give as gifts. I have a large collection of Vintage paper related to Lyman Boats....and others... ..mostly articles and ads from all publications and eras. including some spectacular Yachting Magazines from the 1930's on. I would be happy to send you a few items to look over before deciding to purchase..I have always done business in this manner and it has worked out for everyone...I save writing detailed lists and you get to view the actual material before you decide to purchase. {Prices are all under ten dollars... I also offer a lot price should you keep it all.} Please contact me even if you are not interested so I can pass this on to the next person on my list. Thank you, Sandra Baker Searsport, Maine

My grandfather had a lyman about a 1955 vintage. I can remember him taking me fishing out on Lake Erie via the Grand River in Painesville. Later he traded that boat in around 1965 for a Thompson which he later sold. I wish he would'nt have sold it like he did but now in retrospect where would that boat been kept in during the winter months since the place where it was kept was sold 15 years ago. By the way in my email address; that person's is or was my grandfather. All the best: Glenn M. Simpson

In the mid 60's we owned 2 Lymans. My mothers was a 1959 16' powered by a Merc 450 (45hp). The odd thing about that boat was that the steering wheel was on the port side of the boat. It is the only boat I've ever seen then & now with the wheel on the left side. My Lyman was a 14' powered by a 1963 25 hp Gale. The wheel was driven from the back seat. I'm still into boating: yes a fiberglass 20' Sea-Ray. Still miss the ride of those wooden boats! Please feel free to e-mail me.

My father previously owned a 1971 23' wooden Lyman which he fished out of and enjoyed and lovingly sanded and revarnished, etc for 30 years. He ended up selling it several years ago due to his fathers health problems and just bought a 1973 24' fiberglass Lyman with varnished teak wood trim. We are trying to find out what the original captains chairs were like but there is no original paperwork. Any info you might steer me to would be helpful.

Hello, We have a 28' 1965 Lyman with full cabin. My Mom bought it for my Dad to restore but he had prostate cancer and died shortly after. She will not sell the boat and it is sitting in her back yard slowly rotting away. I would like to know if it is repairable or if we should just cut our losses and get rid of it. If anyone would be interested in looking at it or could help, please contact me through the e-mail address provided. I would like to restore it for her but have no clue about wooden boats. Please help DOC it means everything to my MOM!!

Bought it new, used it for many years and am now restoring to as close to original condition as I am able. I've been looking for Petit Lemonade (color) to paint the hull. Is there a chance that you folks would have a paint color sample of Petit Lemonade? I've contacted Petit, but they have not been helpful. I love the web page! As a youngster in the 1960's I purchased a 13' Lyman ($20)that had been sitting in a field full of fresh water for four years. It had some rot and I managed to get another four years out of it. I ran a six horsepower evinrude with remote controls. The easy treatment of the light engine is why it lasted as long as it did. I used it well into the off season making the daily run to school down the Annisquam river. It was a late october camping trip across Ipswich bay that finally finished the boat. We woke to a northeaster blowing up a sea about twice the length of the boat. What was a twenty minute trip to Crane's beach became a three hour fight back. By the time we surfed across the wingaersheek sandbar, the boat had opened enough seams, especially at the garboard, that it took both of us bailing just to keep her from settling. When we finally docked, I had to remove the engine to keep it from going under. A few weeks later, I untied her painter and let her loose and she spent the winter lodged in ice on the marshes of Jones' creek to be carried off to sea during the spring storm tides. To this day, my heart surges at the nearly plumb stems of the old Lymans and would love to find one again.

Keen website--I only wish it had been around in 1986 when I got my 1954 16-foot Lyman. It was just a pile of boards which had been donated to the local Sea Explorers. I gave them $100 for the bits, borrowed a trailer and hauled it out to the house. Didn't really restore it, as much as do the 30-or-so years' worth of maintenance and cleanup. Did the first part of the work in a freezing Wisconsin garage that winter; did nost of the rest in a freezing Wiconsin greenhouse the next winter. I'd never even heard of Lyman boats until I tracked it down out of a boat magazine. Never owned a boat before, let alone a wooden boat. Didn't know what I was doing most of the time. Worked on the boat down by the Fox River in Green Bay, found some parts and fittings in Quebec, and found a 30-hp motor in Detroit. It's a great little boat for the Fox and the bay of Green Bay, and it will soon make the trip to Florida, unless I can find ANOTHER little Lyman to play with.....
